The Rev. Dr. Hugh B. Marriott, originally from St. Andrew, Jamaica, is the Supervisor of Missions for the Eighth Episcopal District of the AME Church after his appointment by Bishop Erika D. Crawford in 2024. After immigrating to the U.S., he joined the Mount Moriah AME Church in Queens, NY, where he and his wife, Alisha, co-facilitated the Marriage Enrichment Ministry and where he also founded The Master’s Touch Ministry to support the sick and shut-in.

In 2013 he was appointed pastor of the Allen Temple AME Church in Mount Vernon, NY, and has focused on making the church more mission-oriented. He has served in various ministerial roles, including The Board of Examiners, The Board of Trustees, and as First Vice President of the AME Ministerial Alliance of New York and Vicinity. For the past decade, he has led annual mission trips to Guatemala, aiding communities affected by natural disasters and addressing issues like child human trafficking. Locally in the U.S., he has led initiatives to provide care for the disenfranchised and homeless.

Prior to his ministry, he had a successful 16-year career at Verizon Communications, and currently, he serves as an Adjunct Professor at Long Island University and as a staff chaplain at Westchester Medical Health Center.

Dr. Marriott holds a Bachelor of Engineering Degree in Electrical Engineering, a Master of Science in Telecommunications Management, a Master of Divinity in Theology and Missions, and a Doctor of Ministry in Christian Leadership in a Global Context. He is a Silver Life member of the NAACP, Vice President of The African American Men of Westchester, Inc., and serves as a Trustee on The Westchester Medical Health Center Foundation.

Dr. Marriott has received awards such as the Harlem YMCA Black Achiever in Industry Award and the Verizon Excellence Award for his contributions to the recovery effort following the September 11 attacks. He and his wife, Alisha, have been married for 21 years and have two adult children, a daughter-in-law, three grandsons, and a Maltese dog.
