Claytie Davis, Jr.Claytie Davis, Jr. is best described as a man who epitomizes the synergy between family, church and community. Mr. Davis was married to the Late Rt. Reverend Sarah F. Davis, the 126th Bishop of the African Methodist Church. He is the exemplary father of two very successful sons, Dr. Claytie Davis, III and Mr. Corey Barrington Davis. His pride and joy and the newest family member of the Davis clan is his granddaughter Alexandra Morgan Davis.

Claytie was born in Crowley, Louisiana and is the oldest of Seven Children. His parents, Claytie Davis, Sr. and Eliza Mae Chatman Davis moved to Port Arthur, Texas shortly after his birth where he spent his formative years. He joined Carter Chapel CME Church (his family church) where he served faithfully on the youth usher board, Junior Superintendent of the Sunday (Church) School and Junior Steward. Claytie united with the African Methodist Episcopal Church in 1970 where he served on the Trustee and Steward boards of Wesley Chapel AME Church (Houston) and on the Trustee Board of Bethel AMEC (San Antonio). At Bethel, Supervisor Davis served as Director of the Scouting Program for six years, revitalizing both the Boys and Girls scouting program on the Eastside of San Antonio. He was appointed and elected to the Board of Trustees of Paul Quinn College, Dallas, Texas in 1998 and served as Chairman of the Finance Committee from 2000 until 2004.

Claytie Davis, Jr. earned a bachelor's degree in accounting from Rutgers University, New Brunswick, New Jersey. During his college years he was drafted into the U.S. Army where he served two years in the Army Medical Corps. After completion of his tour of duty Claytie joined Southwestern Bell Corporation. During his 29 years of service with SBC, he worked in several levels of management and held assignments in Texas, Missouri, and New Jersey. At the time of his retirement, he was Director of Marketing-Data Products in San Antonio, Texas.

Prior to becoming Episcopal Supervisor of the 16th District, Claytie was supervisor of the 18th District (Lesotho, Botswana, Swaziland and Mozambique) residing in Maseru, Lesotho from 2004 -2008. During his service in the 18th Episcopal District he was instrumental in securing a grant from the Bill and Melinda Gates foundation that provided 20 computers and funding for teachers salaries for Hillside AME High School along with the development of an HIV/AIDs educational program in Mbabane, Swaziland. Claytie and Bishop Sarah worked tirelessly to bring missions teams to provide medical assistance, clothing and teach on AME Doctrine and the arts and sciences for the people of the 18th District.

While serving in the 16th District, Mr. Davis lives in Kingston, Jamaica and supervises the Mission work and the missionaries in the countries of Jamaica, Haiti, Dominican Republic, Guyana, Suriname, London, Holland, France, U.S. Virgin Islands, and the Windward Islands (Barbados, Trinidad, Grenada and Tobago).
